Not to beat you dear readers over the head with Old 97's coverage this week or anything, but the news just keeps on coming in, man. Not our fault, OK?
A reminder: Earlier this week, we passed along word that, yes, it's looking more and more like the next 97's disc will a) be called The Grand Theatre and b) be the double-album that the band's been hoping it will be. Also: The band's putting out a new four-song covers EP next week, which is a bit of a surprise, but a fun one. That EP will be available for purchase via the band's web site starting next Tuesday, as well as at live shows--like, say, the band's next Dallas stop, on July 10, at Fair Park's Taste of Dallas? Sure.
Well, today comes news of even more tracks: Today, the band's offering a free three-song EP of live tracks recorded during the band's Sons of Hermann Hall residency to close out 2009. Which songs? "4 Leaf Clover," "Victoria" and "St. Ignatius," all recorded by Salim Nourallah, who recorded all four nights of the affair, as you might recall. Getting the live EP's a cinch, too: Go here, and agree to become a fan of the band on Facebook.
