The first time I heard guy/girl duo Tennis, there was very little information to accompany the free MP3 download. Many things were left to the imagination, which was an interesting way to hear a new band in an age when the MP3 is accompanied by a band's one-sheet. The song was "South Carolina," an out of tune, slightly scuzzy throwback surf-pop song. I imagined that's where the band was from, a place where surf-pop seems somewhat appropriate. Turns out they're from Denver, and with the release of Young & Old, the band's sophomore LP, much more has been revealed. It's still sunny and sweet, but also a bit slicker and tighter. Vacationer and Bethan open.
