Alright, y'all. It's almost time. In just a few hours, over at the House of Blues, we'll be announcing the winners for your 2011 Dallas Observer Music Awards (refresh your memory of the nominees here). The event opens to the public at 8 p.m. and will kick off immediately with a set from our house band for the evening, The Cannabinoids.

From there, we'll start announcing our winners. Throughout the night, as breathers from acceptance speeches and whatnot, The Cannabinoids will be joined on-stage to offer up one-time-only collaborative performances with A.Dd+, Burning Hotels and RTB2. Oh, and, to end the night, they'll also be joined by the head 'Noid herself, Erykah Badu.

The whole thing should be pretty special. So, too, is this fact: The event is free to attend. One more time with feeling: Yes, free.

Trick, is, you need a ticket to get in. How's this work? Lemme explain: Because of capacity and security concerns, we can't just swing open the doors and allow everyone to rush in, so, upon your arrival, we'll have greeters standing at the door, handing out tickets to attendees as they arrive. Take those tickets and give them to the security guards checking people and, boom, you're in. It's that easy. We'll do this until we reach capacity, so, if you don't want to be left out in the dust, please arrive early. Make sense? Good!

Oh and one more thing: We've got another special guest who'll be showing up tonight to help hand out our awards. I don't want to give away the surprise, but it's someone who knows a thing or two about winning trophies in 2011. Guess away, if you want, in the comments.

Otherwise, we'll just see you in a couple of hours.
