It's difficult to pick the top show this weekend. There's just a lot going on. All over the place, too.
For instance, if you take the elevator up to the thirteenth floor, you'll probably run into troubled genius, Roky Erickson, who is headlining at The Kessler Theater tonight. However, if you can't get tickets (this show will probably sell out if it hasn't already), there are some other weekend options for your, including ones we've mentioned all week.
Tonight, the Fort Worth Music Festival will kick off in downtown Fort Worth with performances by Lucero, Meat Puppets, and Gene Ween at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Meanwhile, over at the Palladium Ballroom, Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest will perform with A.Dd+ and The Gritz.
Tomorrow night, the Fort Worth Music Festival activities continue with Dawes and Telegraph Canyon at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, and, over at The Kessler, Brave Combo will perform with the help of opening act Club Wood. Also, up in Denton, Mother Falcon will be at Hailey's Club, and Blondie and Nico Vega will perform at Granada Theater. Meanwhile, Bryan Street Tavern is hosting an all local music festival called Rocktoberfest on Saturday and Sunday, with Calhoun, Hormones, I Love Math, The O's and many more, and if you need to dance, Basshunter will make your insides rumble at The Lizard Lounge.
Lastly,, on Sunday, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band will be over at House Of Blues, and The Sword, Kyuss Lives!, and Monstro will be at South Side Music Hall.

Colour Revolt, Colourmusic, Fortune Field
Friday, September 30, at The Prophet Bar
I guess you could say that The Prophet Bar will have a colourful showing tonight. Both "Colour" bands on this bill are quite solid, although it's Norman, Oklahoma's Colourmusic that hits a little closer to home. The last time the band came to town, they put on a pummeling noise-pop performance opening for British Sea Power. Local up-and-coming act Fortune Field is an odd choice to open this show, but it wouldn't be the first time that happened at The Prophet Bar.
Ume
Friday, September 30, at Good Records
A look at the Austin three-piece Ume can be deceiving. The pretty blonde up front, Lauren Larson, can actually shred. And the two other guys, her husband and bassist Eric Larson and drummer Jeff Barrera, keep the pace of the songs moving along rather quickly. They'll be on Good Records' astro-turf covered stage at 6 p.m. tonight to perform and hock copies of their new record, Phantoms.
Boobapalooza
Saturday, October 1, at The Bone
Most festivals that use the word "boob" in the name usually benefit or raise awareness for breast cancer. Not this one. It's a burlesque party with a few lower-tier punk and psychobilly acts on the bill, including Dallas' own Elvis Took Acid. The only boobs benefiting from this show will be the ones on stage, playing in the bands.

Japanese Elvis impersonator at The Crown & Harp? Glad to see that place is still booking good bands since it changed it's name from The Cavern.

How did this show slip through the cracks this week? Probably because, as you can see, there are loads of great shows this weekend. Also, Matt Pond PA started out pretty strong a few years ago, but with the release of their tenth album, The Dark Leaves, they just seem to be puttering along. Still, there should be plenty of room for the diehard fans at The Prophet Bar.
Cymbals Eat Guitars, Hooray For Earth
Sunday, October 2, at Dan's Silverleaf
Seems like Spune is spreading the love pretty evenly between the three major cities in North Texas these days. This is another great indie-pop show from Spune, as New York act Cymbals Eat Guitars pass through town in support of their new record Lenses Alien. Hooray for Earth, meanwhile, is a pretty fun band, too.

Irish pop group blends the sounds of Keane, Gavin Degraw, and One Republic. So, if that sounds good to you, enjoy the show.
Daniel Hart, Comrade, Bethan, Eric Harvey
Sunday, October 2, at 3500 Commerce Street
It's a house show, yes. But it's got a pretty impressive bill. Spoon member and Dallas resident Eric Harvey will kick things off with his solo project, followed by Bethan, who we wrote about in this week's paper edition. Then Comrade will put on a rare performance, followed by Daniel Hart, who has been known to play the fiddle with John Vanderslice. What else are you going to do on a Sunday night? Go to the State Fair?
