Kinda a slow day round the way here at DC9. Not too too much going on. Actually, that's not true. There's a lot, but not necessarily enough to constitute entire blog posts. Also, our blogging system was down for a bit before. Oh well.
On that note, let's end the day with a good ol' fashioned news round-up! Done and done...
- Boston/Denton electronic dance-pop/'80s throwback act Roy G. and The Biv has a new free download available to fans today. The song's called "Runnin'" and, like all other RGB tracks, it's a throwback to the time of The Karate Kid and, I dunno, snap bracelets. Or were snap bracelets a '90s thing? I think they were a '90s thing. Anyway, check out the track here (or right-click this link to download the sucker). All kidding aside, it's a pretty decent track. More guitar than most RGB tracks, though. Catch RGB on March 18 at The Lounge, and keep an eye out for the group's debut full-length later this year.
- We already mentioned the upcoming Spinal Tap tour, which will be a toned down, acoustic affair, with no wigs or nuttin' (lame!). But we didn't mention the date of the DFW performance. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer will play Grand Prairie's Nokia Theatre on Saturday, May 2--just three days before Flight of the Conchords play the very same stage, easily making this the most ironic week of live music in Grand Prairie's history. And, if you're looking to be disappointed by Stonehedge in person, well, the Spinal Tap tickets go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m.
- The recently reunited Jodeci,
which was cool, but not as cool as its spin-off R&B act K-Ci and
JoJo (sorry), was supposed to play House of Blues next Friday night.
Uh, no more. The show's canceled. So too is the Charlie Robison show
also scheduled to take play at HOB that same night. Weird. In other
news, tomorrow night's Big Head Todd & The Monsters show? Still on.
Whattup, Colorado?
- Yes, it's true: Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan is stopping through town to hock his brand of wine on at Plano's Whole Foods (located at 2201 Preston Road). He'll be signing bottles of his wine, too. I don't have a joke for this.
- Apparently, despite the outrage, the Cowboy Stadium opening bash with George Strait, Reba McEntire, Julianne Hough and Blaek Shelton didn't sell out in an hour. Or, rather, it looks like it did, but in order to squeeze more butts into the place, the Morning News is reporting that George Strait has "adjusted" his "production" and now there will be more seats up for sale on Friday at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster--just like Spinal Tap. Which brings us full circle.
