Moments ago, McAdams wrote a Facebook status update, saying "Sundress 7-inch release comes out July 24th on White Iris Records." The band, however, is still looking for someone to put out that LP, which has basically been gathering dust for the last six months.
"Just wanna release it right," McAdams said over Facebook chat. "Not on our own."
Looking for a record label to release a band's music can be a long,
arduous process, as Sundress is finding out. "We're actually leaving
again to meet with more [labels] on the East Coast in August," McAdams
says.
It doesn't seem to be the route many bands are taking these days, when you
can easily release an album on Bandcamp, go on tour and then move quickly to
the next project. Whether the wait will benefit the band is anyone's
guess. In the meantime, the band's new single for the song "California Dames" will be available on White Iris Records later this month. To hear a preview, check out the above video of the band's performance of the song at 35 Denton.
Update: Sundress will perform at Stella Fest 2012 at Hailey's on Friday, August 10. The band is actually putting on the festival, which will feature True Widow, Darktown Strutters, Soviet and many more.
