This could make for a touching and interesting lunch hour. Says here that "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott is going to be honored today at, of all places, Pleasant Grove Elementary for the Little Kids Rock's newest chapter in Dallas. The program fosters music education in public schools and something Dimebag was apparently quite close to. The article mentions an auction held in Dimebag's name last year to benefit the foundation which raised funds to open two more chapters in his name with the other in Tampa near Dean Guitars, his preferred brand of guitars. (We really loved Lamb of God's live tribute to Dimebag last December here in Dallas.)

Dimebag Darrell Abbott's most famous gig was as the lead guitarist for Texas heavy rockers Pantera. He was fatally shot in December 2004 while playing with band Damageplan in Ohio. He was 38 years old. -- Rich Lopez
