Last week, the Morning News' Rangers beat writer/columnist Evan Grant shared the music being used at the start of this baseball season by most of your Texas Rangers players -- either at-bat music or welcome-to-the-mound stuff, naturally.
The best news that wasn't? Grant reported that catcher Mike Napoli was using "Teach Me How to Dougie" as his walk-up song, only to later rescind as much, announcing that, not only does Napoli not know how to Dougie, but that his song is acutally Jeremih and 50 Cent's "Down On Me." Lame.
As for the rest of the players' selections? Not a ton of surprises, really. Josh Hamilton is decidedly second in his music selections (Third Day, Mercy Me). Ian Kinsler (Zeppelin, Ram Jam, B.o.B.) and Michael Young (Disturbed, Beastue Boys) are decidedly frat boy-ish. Julio Borbon is writing checks his stats can't cash (Kanye West and Jay-Z's "H.A.M."). Matt Harrison is a straight-up country boy (Randy Houser). Meanwhile, CJ Wilson, clearly, thinks that he's the coolest dude in the clubhouse (Chromeo), and we're kind of inclined to agree.
The biggest shockers? That Arthur Rhodes likes country music so much (Brooks & Dunn) and that no one tried talking Elvis Andrus out of using a song meant as a rallying cry for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates (Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow"). Interesting.
Maybe someone can talk David Murphy into using some local music? He seems like a cool dude.
