On January 25, Yung Nation tweeted that one of the duo, Brandon Reed, aka B. Reed, was shot.
Luckily, the Duncanville native is in good condition now, and even performed at a show at the Frisco Arts Center less than 24 hours after being shot.

— YungNation.com (@YungNation) January 25, 2014We talked to Yung Nation manager Phillip Ward, aka DJ Merk, for more information. Merk said Yung Nation was performing at the Getaway Club in Sherman for a small-town show on Friday, January 24. A stranger was "starting stuff with everybody and he made his way to Yung Nation, of course, and that's when it escalated." Exact details are unclear.
Merk says that his understanding is that, "B. Reed left something in the club and tried to go get it and they shot him in the leg and the bullet went right through his thigh and out the other side."
Because of the "mass chaos" outside the club as well as the adrenaline, Merk says, "[B. Reed] didn't even realize it until he got back to Dallas, because somebody like busted out the back of their car and one of their friends got hit with the glass in the eye so I guess [B. Reed] thought he got cut with some glass and when he got home and took his clothes off, he realized he got shot and he went to the hospital."
B. Reed spent about eight hours in the hospital, and since only a little bit of shrapnel was left in his leg, no surgery was required. He should be fully recovered in about a month, but the injury won't stop him from performing. Merk says the show went well the next night, for example, even though B. Reed was on crutches and medication. Merk says they're "just happy [B. Reed] is good. Could've been much worse."
B. Reed is grateful for the support and optimistic about YN's future: "I appreciate everyone praying for me and wishing me well," he says. "I'm doing well and the Yung Nation is stronger than ever. We do this for the Nation, no matter what! Love!"
Yung Nation will still be able to perform at Austin's SXSW in March as well as at Plano's Suburbia festival.
