More good news for American Airlines, which is starting the year with two false-imprisonment lawsuits hanging over its head. Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation released its Air Travel Consumer Report for November, and of the 20 major carriers in the United States, Fort Worth-based American ranked 19th in on-time arrivals, just between Atlantic Southeast Airlines (which is on-time 76.7 percent of the time) and United (at 75.5 percent). AA gets ya there as scheduled around 75.6 percent of the time -- as compared to, oh, chart-topper Hawaiian Airlines, which arrives as scheduled 92.4 percent of the time.
American also has two of the top-five most-frequently delayed flights: Flight 350 from Chicago O’Hare to New York LaGuardia and Flight 1497 from Newark to Chicago O’Hare, both of which run late 83.33 percent of the time. Also, AA reported today that its domestic traffic was down in December, averaging 78.8 percent occupancy -- which was down from 79.1 percent in December 2006. --Robert Wilonsky
