Last I looked, Steve Mauldin's still listed on the KTVT-Channel 11 Web site as president and general manager of that station -- and its KTXA-Channel 21 sibling too. But not according to Variety: Says the Hollywood trade in a just-posted piece, Maudlin's off to Los Angeles to take over KCBS and KCAL, a move prompted by none other than newly installed CBS Television Stations head honcho Peter Dunn.

Why the move out west? Says Dunn, it has something to do with KTVT's recently besting Charlie Brown Christmas-hating WFAA in the November ratings book: "Steve is one of our most experienced executives running major market duopolies, having done so in both Dallas and Miami to great effect -- both in terms of driving sales growth and leading his stations to first place in late news." Mauldin's been at KTVT since 2003.
