Larry James, president and CEO of Central Dallas Ministries, posted this announcement to his blog this a.m.: Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins will deliver the keynote address at this year's 14th Annual Urban Ministries Prayer Breakfast, set for April 21 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. As James notes, his organization has a particular interest in Watkins's work exonerating the wrongly imprisoned: CDM's Rev. Gerald Britt, the vice president of public policy and community program development, is among those demanding Texas Legislature give more money to prisoners released from prison following DNA evidence exoneration.

Just last week, Britt, who's also assisting the exonerated with finding housing and jobs, wrote that an unnamed city of Dallas official told him "it wasn't politically prudent to support such legislation during these tough economic times." James writes this morning that Watkins "will address the importance of pursuing and ensuring integrity and fairness in the administration of criminal justice in a community like Dallas. He will also be discussing the clear link between his own important work and his personal faith walk."
