Looks like Richard Collins, Dallas businessman and Republican moneybags, has decided to steer his swift boat in another direction: The man who's poured at least $300,000 into the anti-Hillary Clinton Web site Stop Her Now will keep the site's name but change its focus. No longer will it attempt to "rescue the world from the radical ideas of Hillary Clinton"; instead, it will now "save America from the radical leftist agenda of Barack Obama." Though over on the righty-tighty Townhall, Big Dick Collins doesn't really offer much in the way of evidence -- only, um, "Obama is just flat out inexperienced." Oh, and he echoes President Bush's much-denounced rant offered yesterday in the Israeli Knesset: "Obama promises to meet with dictators and terrorists."
In other Stop Her Now news, John McCain was forced to sever ties with consultant Craig Shirley, after the Web site Politico asked the campaign, like, why was the GOP presidential nominee doing business with a guy also working for Collins' site, an independent 527 group? Says McCain spokesman Brian Rogers: "If you're working for a 527 involved in the presidential race, you won't have a named role in our campaign.” But, perhaps, he will remain the consultant whose love dare not speaks it name. --Robert Wilonsky
