Thankfully there isn't a team in the NBA called the Giants.

While the Cowboys got walloped by New York Monday night and the Rangers were whipped by San Francisco last night here in the City by the Bay, your Dallas Mavericks are on pace to go 82-0 after opening the season Wednesday night with a familiar result:

Mavericks 101, Charlotte 86. Dallas is now 13-0 all-time against the woeful Bobcats.

The ho-hum win was produced by the usual suspects as Dirk Nowitzki hit a jumper on Dallas' first possession and scored 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting while Jason Kidd dished out 18 assists.

I was glued to baseball, but looks like the Mavs jumped to a 16-0 lead.

Not a bad way to start the season.

I know it's Charlotte and it's October, and we won't know a dang thang about these Mavs until Roddy Beaubois returns from his broken foot and the schedule says at the Denver Nuggets next Wednesday and until the Boston Celtics visit AAC on November 8.

But, considering how this week our teams have been trampled upon by Giants, it's just nice to chat about a small victory.
