Holding candles and cupcakes, Lisa Stone's friends met to sing, pray and shed tears last night under the billboard they hope will help them find answers as to why Stone has been missing for more than three months. The vigil was alternately solemn and angry -- verses of "Amazing Grace" echoed across the Dobson Floors parking lot before some from the group, comprised of Stone's Mesquite High School alumni friends and members of Dallas' gay community, showed publicly the frustration they've been feeling for the past several weeks.
Mark Anthony Gray, a friend of Stone's deceased brother, spoke, calling for continued vigils and increased attendance -- this candlelight meeting was noticeably smaller than those in the past. He also had a message for the person out there -- and Stone's friends believe there is at least one -- who knows what happened to Lisa: "I hope they don't sleep at night."
Police have not officially ruled Stone's disappearance to be anything more than a missing persons case -- without a body, there's no homicide. An investigator acknowledged to the Dallas Voice last week that finding Stone's remains would break the case open, though in the worst possible way.
