Sergio Chapa, who's a reporter for Al Día, goes by the YouTube moniker TXReporter, and a few weeks back he posted to the YT a five-and-a-half minute segment titled "Fuera del Closet: Gay Hispanic Immigrants in Dallas." Says here it made its debut over Labor Day weekend at the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists’ Association’s annual convention in San Diego, where Chapa was joined by former Dallas Observer writer Clay Smith, now director of the Texas Book Festival, on a panel titled "Double Discrimination: LGBT Immigrants in the United States."

Clay talked about this story written for the paper version of Unfair Park in 2005. "Immigration isn't really covered in the LGBT world at all," he told the LGJA conference. "America has been overwhelmed by immigration stories, but there's still so many more to cover." To prove it Chapa and photojournalist Ben Torres Jr. showed their doc about how "transvestite and transexual entertainers perform at taquerias and Mexican restaurants for straight audience across the metroplex." Worth a watch this morning. --Robert Wilonsky
