Yeah, I know--who knew the MLB was having its draft today? Well, Jamey did, which is why Unfair Park allows him free access to the midway. Besides, who else do you know who reads the Yavapai County Daily Courier?

"According to the Yavapai County Daily Courier, the Rangers have signed Yavapai Community College catcher Kevin Gossage, last summer's 33rd-round pick. The draft-and-follow was eligible to be signed until 11 p.m. tonight, as his team remained in playoff action past last Monday's conventional deadline to sign 2005 draft-and-follows--in fact, Yavapai lost in the JUCO World Series finals on Saturday.

Gossage, the nephew of former Ranger reliever Rich Gossage, tied a JUCO record for home runs in a game by blasting three against Butler Community College last Tuesday, and overall he hit .318/.400/.909 in 22 World Series at-bats, with four homers. The freshman hit .298/.340/.468 in 188 at-bats during the Roughriders' regular season."

I assume some of you know what he's talking about. Also, Jamey just updated his update by noting the Rangers just drafted the sons of Pirates manager Jim Tracy and former Chicago White Sox-Detroit Tigers great Chet Lemon in the third and fourth rounds respectively.
