Former Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel surrendered to authorities Wednesday afternoon. His surrender came after a Dallas County grand jury indicted him last week for assault causing a bodily injury to a member of his household, a misdemeanor. Manziel is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in her left ear.

Manziel posted $1,500 bail before being released from jail. He is currently doesn't have an agent, a team or much chance of playing in the NFL in 2016. He's also been dropped from his sponsorship deal with Nike.

Although the alleged assault occurred in Dallas, Manziel turned himself over to Highland Park police under a Texas law allows the accused to surrender at any police station. Manziel is expected to make his first appearance in Dallas County court Thursday. He faces up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine if convicted.
