Just got back to the computer to find a note from U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn's courtroom deputy, who says that since last we were in the Earle Cabell Federal Building and Courthouse, the judge met with prosecutors and defense attorneys -- separately -- to see about picking up the pace of the already drawn-out federal City Hall corruption trial. Maybe, maybe not: According to the e-mail sent to local media, both sides combined have indeed whittled down their respective lists of witnesses -- and it "has been lowered to a ballpark of 50 witnesses," which is more than double the number of folks who've taken the stand since this sucker started back in late June. And that doesn't include Bill Fisher, who's back on the stand when court resumes Monday. Get your rest this weekend, Jim.
