There may have been a few Rangers fans who mourned when the club traded longtime second-baseman Ian Kinsler, but for most, his unreliable glove and mediocre performance at the plate far outweighed whatever goodwill his boyish good looks might inspire. Plus, we got Prince Fielder.
But while Rangers fans may have moved on, Kinsler has not. Currently making the local sports-media rounds is this ESPN The Magazine profile of the Detroit Tigers' new second baseman.
He's bitter, still fuming about how the Rangers handled his trade (there was "no remorse"; he learned of it from a reporter's text message); how they treated Michael Young; and how general manager Jon Daniels deposed Nolan Ryan as the club's leader ("Daniels is a sleazeball. He got in good with the owners and straight pushed Ryan out.").
No surprise then that he wants to see the Rangers fail and fail hard. "To be honest with you, I hope they go 0-162."
He's entitled to his opinion. And we're entitled to keep watching this on a loop:
