The Observer is always looking for college interns to contribute to Dallas' award-winning newspaper and web site. Specifically, we're looking for students (any major will do) with a demonstrated interest and some experience in journalism, non-fiction creative writing, social media, multimedia, photography, filmmaking, joke-telling, or woodworking. (We've always wanted a bird feeder.)

Interns will work with an editor to make contributions to one or more of our four blogs - Unfair Park (news), City of Ate (restaurants), DC-9 (music and nightlife) and Mixmaster (arts) - or other parts of web site, including our slideshow page and video channel, our event listings and our bar listings. One internship each semester will be dedicated entirely to multimedia storytelling -- video, audio and photography.

These are unpaid internships for currently enrolled college or graduate students. Prospective interns must be able to receive college credit for their work. They should also be smart, good-natured and self-motivated, because some of us are grumpy and forgetful, especially before noon.

Interested students should send an email to Joe Tone, editor, explaining which of the above areas most interests them, along with a few work samples that demonstrate some talent for whatever is they want to do. Unpublished work is fine. No boring stuff, please. (We get sleepy.) Send them to [email protected].
