And you thought I was actually going to blab about women's basketball? Okay, here goes:
Texas A&M beat Notre Dame for the National Championship last night.
Love coach Gary Blair, who cut his coaching teeth at South Oak Cliff High School. But, let's be honest, their star player -- Danielle Adams -- is a tad un-svelte. I doubt she can jump over Charlie Sheen's flattened reputation.
Charlotte Barkley. How's that?
Adams may have bullied her way to 30 points against the Irish, but she wouldn't even get a shot off against the random 40-somethings playing during lunch down at Lifetime Fitness.
In a semi-related story, Martellus Bennett is an Aggie who should shut his mouth.
Bennett, who has done zilch with his immense talent in three season with the Cowboys, decided yesterday would be a good time to praise backup quarterback Jon Kitna and prod the team to open up the competition when -- OK, if -- there is a 2011 season.
Said Bennett: "I hope there's a chance for a quarterback competition this year. Every position, I think we need to put more competition into it."
I don't necessarily disagree with Bennett's notion that positions should be open entering training camp this summer. On a 6-10 team that monumenetally underachieved, there are no bad ideas. But those decisions -- those declarations -- need to come from head coach Jason Garrett, not this clown.
In light of Bennett's zero touchdowns the last two seasons, one thing's for sure: Jason Witten's job isn't in danger.
