In his first game back in Dallas after a trade from New Jersey point guard Jason Kidd took the opening possession against the Hornets in New Orleans and threw a perfect lob pass that Josh Howard dunked. I was at Buffalo Wild Wings on Lemmon Ave., and the place went bonkers.
"This trade," we said in unison, "is gonna work!"
Oops. Kidd and head coach Avery Johnson never saw eye-to-eye and the Mavs were summarily whipped in the first round of the playoffs that spring by those same Hornets.
