Hell of a time for Avi Adelman not to have his video camera handy: The Barking Dog reports that at about 1:30 yesterday morning, a Dallas police officer got the call that he was needed to subdue a drunken patron at the Sugar Shack on Greenville Avenue. But the collar quickly went south: "He was struggling on the Sugar Shack floor while trying to arrest a patron when someone hit him on the back of the head with a beer bottle." And according to the police report, the officer was hit "several times," though he was treated on the scene and at the hospital and released without needing stitches. But the assailant, facing an assault on a public servant charge, has thus far escaped arrest. --Robert Wilonsky
