The last time the Cowboys lost a game by more was a 40-point loss to the Minnesota Vikings in a 1988 laugher quarterbacked by Steve Pelluer and coached by Tom Landry. This is officially the worst season since 1989 and with the New York Giants looming Sunday, it could get worse before it gets better. If it gets better.
7. In his pre-game interview with 105.3 The Fan's Kristi Scales, owner Jerry Jones was short, surly and down right rude. After the game he morphed into angry. "I'm concerned," he said. "I can't put a finger on it because there's not enough fingers. ... Everybody in the country can agree that there's a lot wrong with this team." When Jonesstarts talking big picture - "country" - I'd get nervous if I was Wade. Mess with Jone's precious public perception and heads will roll. Not his of course. Jones promised "consequences," but snapped when asked about his continuing role as general manager. "Don't imply that my role is going to change at all," he said. "Don't do that. You'll get something stuck."
6. Even noted Cowboys fan LeBron James has slam-dunked this season. In Twitter posts last night he called his favorite team "officially the worst in the NFL" and called for "furniture moving." Wonder if he can play safety?
5. Was trying to grasp just how big of a disaster this season is. Thought back to training camp in San Antonio when the biggest only concern was kicker David Buehler. Wrote Sports Illustrated's Peter King at the time: "The Cowboys are the best, most talented team I've seen players 1-80. By far." Hey Peter, the line forms behind me.
4. The whole team has regressed, but no one has fallen farther than cornerback Mike Jenkins. I know it's a diluted honor these days, but this guy made the Pro Bowl last year. Last night he reverted back to his ugly 2008. Then: He failed to even attempt to tackle the New York Giants' Derrick Ward. Now: He failed to even attempt to tackle the Green Bay Packers' James Jones. Sorry Mike, but you're not Deion. Hit somebody.
3. Add to the Cowboys' 2010 lowlight package: Dez Bryant reaching up to field a punt over his head; Felix Jones having a Jon Kitna pass bounce off his helmet; Terence Newman inexplicably kicking the ball after a blocked field goal; etc. ...
