Update on January 26: DPD wrapped up its investigation and found no evidence that the alleged rape took place.
Original post: Yesterday at 11 a.m., Dallas police were called to Forest Lane Academy, a Richardson ISD elementary school, to investigate a sexual assault.
They made no arrests, but they did classify the incident as an aggravated sexual assault and completed a report noting that the "susp[ect] penetrated juvenile comp[lainant's] anus with his penis."
Police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez declined to provide additional details about the assault other than the age of those involved. The victim is 4 years old. The alleged rapist? Five.
Nor was that the only alleged assault that occurred yesterday at Forest Lane Academy. According to a separate police report, someone inappropriately groped a child's butt at some point between noon and 3 p.m. It's not clear if the two are related.
Gutierrez said police are working with school officials to investigate what happened. I have calls out to Forest Lane Academy's assistant principal and RISD spokesman Tim Clark for details on the incident and how the district is handling it.
Update at 12:54 p.m.: "This is the first we've heard of anything like this," Clark tells Unfair Park.
No one at the school, including the teacher in charge of the two pre-K sections, has heard anything about a sexual assault from students, parents, or DPD, he says.
Clark said he forwarded the DPD offense report to the district's head of security, who plans to get in touch with Dallas police.
Update at 2:45 p.m.: Another update from Clark:
DPD is now at the school investigating the complaint and the district is cooperating. I don't have anything additional I can share at this point - we're working with DPD to find out what may have happened. It's too soon for any kind of determination regarding discipline or if it is appropriate. As you know, comment regarding whether any actions rise to the level of criminal conduct would come from DPD.
