I noticed two things this weekend during a visit into the quaint, quirky White Rock Lake neighborhood known as Little Forest Hills: the astounding number of hideous McMansions springing up like weeds in the woods, and the tiny signs trying to fend them off like disposable Davids dueling Tyveked Goliaths. The signs are part of a campaign being waged by the Little Forest Hills Conservation Committee and are available for $10 to $30 donations; they've been popping up for about a month or so. Dunno if they're gonna have any impact, but they have caught the attention of University of Texas at Dallas "professor of emerging media" Dean Terry, who deals with this very issue of teardowns and prefab gentrification in his new documentary Subdivided, which Terry hopes to finish by the summer. By the time it comes out, all of Dallas will look like this. --Robert Wilonsky
