Twiddling - or I should say Tweeddling - my thumbs until the 6 p.m. release of the NFL schedule and the unveiling of the Dallas Cowboys' path to 9-7, I stumbled upon a couple of things.

1. This year's NFL Draft is extraordinarily weak. (More on that later.)

2. The North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee is surprisingly hip. (More on that now, after the jump.)

SBXLV - set for February 6, 2011 in Arlington's Jonestown Coliseum - is the NFL's first ultimate game to wander into the world of social networking. Not only does North Texas' Host Committee have a website (www.northtexassuperbowl.com) and a MySpace (www.myspace.com/northtexassuperbowl.com) - those fads are soooo 2007 - it has also branched out on the cool tree and secured itself a Facebook (North Texas Super Bowl) and a Twitter (NTSuperBowl).

Though I can't envision HC chair Roger Staubach requesting friends and sending out tweets, so far SBXLV has 27 Twitter followers and 220 FB friends.

By the way, SBXLV kickoff - according to my fancy schmancy countdown clock - is in exactly 662 days, 12 hours, 23 minutes and 30 ... 29 ... 28 ... 27 ... seconds.
