We can look at CQ Press's just-released City Crime Rankings 2010-2011 two ways: from safest to most dangerous or vice-versa. But either way -- based upon the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports that include "the violent crimes of murder,
rape, robbery, and aggravated assault and the property crimes of burglary, larceny-theft, motor
vehicle theft, and arson" -- Frisco ranks as the 14th-safest city in the country, right between Troy, Michigan, and the Township of Toms River in New Jersey. I hear Troy has a very nice mall.
Allen, which ranked ninth in '08, slips to 21st. After that McKinney comes in at 51; Plano, 52. Richardson's the next local city on the list, down at 88; Carrollton follows at 104; Denton, 112; Lewisville, 114; Irving, 137; Garland, 158; Mesquite, 190; Grand Prairie, 220; Arlington, 232; Fort Worth, 252. And Dallas? The 349th-safest. Out of 400 ranked. But better than Miami and Oklahoma City. And Houston. But what isn't?
