Nothing short of the End of Days gets the Dallas Independent School District to close its doors. But well before 5 a.m., the district made up its mind and told the kiddos to stay at home. Or: "Debido al mal tiempo, las escuelas del Dallas ISD están cerradas hoy." Which is why mine's still asleep, apparently.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit is likewise suffering its own frozen-day meltdown. From DART, this heed-to regarding suspension of service:

All DART services are experiencing major delays due to deteriorating weather conditions. The timing, speed and intensity of the ice storm is affecting our ability to prevent ice buildup and restore service. Trinity Railway Express is delayed up to an hour this morning. We're working to try and reduce the delays.

The I-30W HOV lane, I-30E HOV lane, southbound US 75 HOV lane at the High Five & I-35/67 HOV lane are closed.

Dallas/Fort Worth Airport's website is down; the airport itself is just closed.

The city of Dallas also just sent word:

Due to inclement weather, all municipal court dockets, including Community Courts, are canceled today. Jurors do not need to appear today. Today's cases will be reset and those individuals will be notified of new dates.

Also slow-moving this morning: TxDOT's traffic cameras website. Just stay home. So much for Sam making it to Dallas County Commissioners Court this morning. Shame -- and word is, John Wiley Price had metal detectors put in for today's meetin'.
