Nielsen Media Research only recently started keeping tabs on households with digital video recorders. Guess there just weren't enough to keep track of till four months ago, but says here that 17.2 percent of all U.S. homes now have some kind of a DVR. But us, Dallas, we scoff at that puny number. Because we crush that national average and then some: The Dallas-Fort Worth market, sixth-biggest media market in all the land, comes in at the very top of the DVR list, as more than one quarter of all the homes in the metroplex have a digital video recorder. Yup. The DFW and its 26.5 percent beats Los Angeles. San Francisco. Washington, D.C. Even New York Freakin' City, which only has a "DVR penetration of 18.3%." Hey, that's what she said. --Robert Wilonsky
