Leading up to September's Best of Dallas® 2016 issue, we're sharing (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes, the Dallas entrées, appetizers and desserts that really stuck with us this year.

Even if you had to literally trek to Nashville to sink your teeth into Rapscallion's "Long Walk to Nashville" yardbird, you'd lace your boots up and hit the road. The popular Greenville Avenue restaurant delights and surprises with their modern take on Southern classics, and this spicy chicken is no exception. Their unique process results in a brined, "rotisserized," and fried chicken, available by the half or whole bird.

Served up with pickled onions, peppers, lime wedges, and tangy mala sauce, it's both familiar and new. If you crave something a bit more traditional, go for the rotisserie chicken kissed with a tea brine, pecan smoke and rye whiskey gravy. In either version, you'll hear the heartbeat of the South.
