Leading up to our annual Best of Dallas® issue, we're counting down the 50 most interesting restaurants in Dallas. These spots bring something unique or compelling to the city's dining scene, feeding both your appetite and soul.

Kuby's, the German grocery and deli in University Park's Snider Plaza, has been shaping the local sausage scene since 1961, bringing some Old World character to a city that worships the new.

Their deli case has sausages ranging from the everyday bratwurst (in 16 different varieties) and frankfurters, to more obscure items such as blood sausages. Pick out an assortment of sausages, a few jars from the massive collection of mustards and maybe some sauerkraut and you're on your way to a homemade sausage fest capable of feeding an army.

Of course, if you don't feel like doing the cooking yourself, you'll likely enjoy the restaurant next door. The Wurst Teller offers up to three sausages on one plate, with potato salad, red cabbage and kraut to pad everything out. There are also schnitzels, potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream and a host of other German specialties available.

The dining room is casual, like a diner that's inundated with the heady scent of cased meats. Grab a seat at the counter and get ready to eat. And make sure you save some space for some strudel for the finish.
