What better way to celebrate International Stout Day than with a flight of stouts? We could think of a few ways, including but not limited to: replacing all of the water in Niagara Falls with stout beer, watching a synchronized swimming team execute their moves in a pool of stout, and lining bottles of stout end to end until they reach the moon. But, considering the logistics involved with the preceding scenarios, a flight of stout will have to do. Enjoy a Yeti flight of 2012 Oak Aged, Belgian Style and 2014 Chocolate Imperial stouts at Libertine Bar. The cost is $25 per person.

Dr. Tamara L. Bray, Professor of Anthropology at Wayne State University, will guest lecture this evening at the Dallas Museum of Art. Pre-Columbian Andes dining is Dr. B’s thing, and her lecture is sure to elucidate all things Inca, from their preferred foodstuffs to preparation methods and the dynamic role that food played in power negotiations and politics in pre-Columbian times. The Incan feast that is slated to follow the talk is sold out, so unfortunately you’ll have to get your edible clay fix elsewhere. But the lecture is still open, and tickets are only $5 a head.

When you hear the words “public forum,” a few things come to mind. Old people. Angry people. Angry, old people. What probably doesn’t come to mind is beer. This Saturday, beer-wigs from around this here state will come together to discuss the state of Texas craft brewers’ rights, in what is sure to become known as the Lincoln-Gluglas debate. The discussion will feature Ron Extract and Jeff Stuffings of Jester King, Chip McElroy of Live Oak Brewing Co., Brad Farbstein of Real Ale Brewing Co., Michael Peticolas of Peticolas Brewing Co. and Rhett Keisler of Revolver Brewing. The discussion will be fueled, of course, by lots and lots of craft beer, which is sure to make this both an edifying and inebriating evening of discourse. Proceeds from beer sales will benefit the Open the Taps and Texas Craft Brewers Guild.

Have you ever thought to yourself, "Gee, these all-you-can-eat pancakes sure are tasty. But you know what would make them even better? Live music, art by over 90 emerging artists and live body-painting demonstrations." Yeah, I didn't think so. But some weirdo genius did, and they turned that thought into reality. The Pancake & Booze Art Show is billed as "Dallas' largest underground art show." We haven't checked the figures on that claim, but we're pretty sure it's the biggest underground art show that predominately features breakfast food. The event is 21 and over only — $5 cover at the door.
