Early this morning, firefighters were called out to Pecan Lodge for a fire in the smokehouse.

"We had a small fire this morning that was contained to the smokehouse," owner Justin Fourton says. "It was extinguished quickly and we will be open for business as usual today."

Social media went a little nuts at the words "Pecan Lodge" and "fire," but by 8:30 a.m., the fire department was gone and employees were back in the smokehouse, working the pits before the 11 a.m. lunch service starts. There was no visible damage, and Pecan Lodge was tweeting "All is OK!" to rabid barbecue fans who feared their favorite brisket-slinger might be imperiled.

On Sunday, the Deep Ellum barbecue spot raised more than $15,000 for the Assist the Officer Foundation after donating all of the day's profit to the police foundation, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. Dallas police officers eat free at the restaurant through July 17.
