Community Beer Co. is opening their brand spankin' new taproom every Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. The beer is so fresh it's still mooing. No! Silly! Hops don't moo. But, it's just really fresh. This is all compliments of the five-pack of bills Governor Rick Perry signed in June, which allow Texas breweries to sell beers on-site. No keg stands, but lots and lots of pints. CBC is one of the first local breweries to tap into the new law. It's a bar at a brewery. Cheers to that!
It's Wine Week at Central Market. So, just pull up a seat and stay a while. Today (Friday, June 12) at 4 p.m., the CM on Lovers is having a Sip & Stroll. For $10 you can go on a sort of guided wine and dine tour as the world outside fights through traffic and 196-degree heat. Do this. You'll even get a commemorative wine glass. The Sip and Stroll is from 4 to 8 p.m., but the emphasis on the importance of good wine is all weekend.
Saturday, the almost-open Alamo Draft House (100 S. Central Expressway, Richardson) is having a teaser-party. Their free Outdoor Summer Series starts this weekend with Dazed and Confused. There will be plenty of food trucks and Community Beer Co. beers as you fry like bacon, you freshman piggies. Lay on the pavement and fry! FRY! Saturday the gates (to the parking lot) open at 6:30 and the movie starts at sundown. You can bring your own recliner if you want. There will be pinball machines as well.
If you're in the Town of the Cow this weekend, L.U.C.K. (the pop-up, chef/local/craft beer-driven restaurant slated to open in Trinity Groves later this year) is hosting a cooking demo at Central Market in Forth Worth along with Martin House Brewing Co. The menu includes blue crab summer salad, beer-steamed mussels with grilled sourdough, crispy cheese gorditas and Bavarian-style pretzels served with a chocolate stout dipping sauce. Each course is paired with a Martin House beer. Class is Saturday 6:30 to 9 p.m. and cost $65.
