The local chapter of Slow Food is having a fall fundraiser that you might want to go ahead and grab a ticket for. Coffee and Pie Oh My! is November 8 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Davis Street Espresso and will raise funds for the non-profit group that promotes good, clean, fair and preferably local food.
Fundraisers for Slow Food allow the group to enhance community outreach projects and promote local growers. Liz Goulding, local Slow Food leader (and City of Ate contributor) says the funds will help them create educational materials and they can offer local food artisans and farmers scholarships for conferences and workshops.
In a glorious double billing, both Oak Cliff Coffee Roaster and Emporiums Pies will be on hand with their goods. The baristas from Davis Street will hand-pour coffee and Emporium will offer two pies not found in their Oak Cliff store: The Trifecta, a chocolate chip bourbon pecan pie with shortbread crust, and Mr. Macintosh, an apple pie with fall spices, dried cranberries, and a puff pastry top.
Each ticket will get you a well-deserved slice of pie and all the coffee your nervous system can muster. And since it's Slow Food, guests are encouraged to bring their own mug to cut down on waste. If you're a real trooper, you'll bring your own plate and fork too.
Tickets are $20 each of 2 for $35. All proceeds benefit Slow Food Dallas.
