That said, bars across DFW (and probably the country) are giving their juleps — the traditional Derby Day cocktail made with just whiskey, simple syrup, mint and water — a bit of a festive twist. The most intriguing we've heard about so far is the Fresa Patrón julep at Jalisco Norte, made with strawberry- and pepper-infused tequila with a jammy French liqueur. Just different enough to pique our interest, just familiar enough to celebrate the best two minutes in sports.
This julep will be available at during the Derby Brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Jalisco Norte.
