Liza Garza is opening a new restaurant downtown called Shelby Hall. Garza's announcement contains no menu, no design info and no opening date, but it did contain this photo of Lisa Garza. Actually, there were a number of photos, but I liked this one the best because it had a chicken in it.
Garza spent a great deal of 2014 tangled up in a lawsuit with her former partner at her first restaurant, Sissy's. That lawsuit was settled around the beginning of this year, leaving Garza free to expand her Southern hospitality empire.
Garza snagged chef Patton Robertson, the former executive chef of Five Sixty, to oversee dining operations at Shelby Hall. He's also taking charge of the kitchen at Sissy's, so Garza can continue to develop additional concepts and pose for more pictures.
Shelby Hall will focus on Delta and Lowcountry cuisine with a seafood slant. Yes, poultry will be featured, but no, the chicken in the photograph won't. Jim Beam will be prominent on the cocktail list, and diners can expect barrel-aged cocktails and a curated wine and beer list, served up by Garza's trademark good-lookin' staff. The restaurant is expected to open sometime this fall at 1525 Elm St.
