A new locally produced TV show focusing on neighborhood restaurants in North Texas is set to debut this weekend. Local Fare is the brainchild of restaurateurs Josh Sepkowitz and Kyle Noonan and will premiere at 5 p.m. this Saturday, September 7, on KTXA channel 21.

Sepkowitz and Noonan explained in a previous interview that the idea for this show came about, like most of their other ideas: by sitting around with friends, drinking a few beers and someone says, "Wouldn't it be cool if...."

Their previous ideas included Mutt's Canine Cantina, a dog park and bar; The Rustic, a mid-sized music venue collaboration with Pat Green (he's a friend); and Bowl and Barrel, bowling and barreling. Because nobody ever barrels anymore (actually, it's a restaurant. Here's a reveiw from Scott Reitz). Collectively, all of these concepts are filed under FreeRange Concetps, the name of Sepkowitz and Noonan's business.

The "if" in this particular beer-session-with-friends was a show about neighborhood gems. Each show will feature three restaurants, along with a regular Joe who thinks that particular place is the cat's meow. They all try each other's spots and say, "Yeah, this place sucks," or "Wow, never knew what I was missing."

In the end the Joes compare notes on all three restaurants and decide on a winner.

The three restaurants on the first episode are Bolsa, Louie's, and Ellerbe Fine Foods on Magnolia in Fort Worth.

Local Fare will air Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 on KTXA channel 21.
