The new Greenville Avenue specialty grocer, Green Grocer (3614 Greenville Ave.), will host grand opening festivities from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. this coming Saturday with lots of vendor samples and merriment. They also announced via their Facebook page the store is open all week, although not at full capacity -- a soft opening while they work out all the kinks. So, don't yell at anyone if you can't find the cheese you want. They're working on it.
Green Grocer is originally out of Chicago, and this Dallas store is only the second location. The store will carry a bevy of organically grown/raised vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, dry goods and wine. Many field trips to visit farms have been documented on their Facebook page.
Green Grocer partners with the specialty-foods delivery company Artizone and hopes to start making deliveries by mid-March.
A sampling of some of the products includes Cita's salsa, La Duni baked goods, Hirsch's Specialty Meats from Plano (http://www.hirschsmeats.com/), Three Happy Cows dairy products, Ipanema Cheese Bread, Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters, all along aisles staples and everyday goods.
Green Grocer is the third recent grocery store around Lower Greenville. Trader Joe's just started construction at the old Arcadia spot and a Walmart Neighborhood Market opened just across the street last fall; both of which are a mile south of Green Grocer.
