More news from local snack food makers: Frito-Lay, has created a spin off of their iconic Cracker Jack snack, called "Cracker Jack'd." While still in development phase, a picture has been released that shows at least five different varieties of this new snack, including cheddar BBQ, PB & Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Spicy Pizzeria and, lastly, Cocoa Java "Power Bites," which contain caffeine. A spokesman for Frito Lay previously told Ad Age that these new energizing snacks will only be marketed to adults, not kids, and that the Power Bites will contain about 70 mg of caffeine per 2-ounce package (about the same as a cup of coffee).

This jacked snack is getting a lot of attention from consumer advocacy groups. Especially after news of high-caffeine drinks like Monster Energy Drinks and the 5-Hour Energy potentially contributing to more than a dozen deaths.

The nonprofit group Center for Science in the Public Interest sent a letter to the FDA alerting them of several products on the market that can easily appeal to children, like Kraft's caffeinated "water enhancer" MiO energy, Extreme Sports Beans from the Jelly Belly Co. and Cracker Jack'D.

No word on prizes.
