As teased last week, after months and months of waiting (and false starts), Fort Worth's Rahr & Sons Brewing Company is finally ready to reopen to the public with regular brewery tours, beginning today from 5 to 7 p.m.
Tonight's featured specialty beer is a cask-conditioned take on Rahr's Blind Salamander, which, as you may remember from this Hophead entry, is a softer, toned-down take on the pale ale style more in line with a restrained British-style pale ale than hop-heavy American versions. Featured food is pizza from Chadra Mezza Grill.
Saturday's noon to 3 p.m. tour will also feature food as well as music. Admission to Wednesday and Saturday tours is $7.
As you may remember, Rahr's brewery tours have been shut down since the massive February 12 snowfall, which collapsed the structure's roof and damaged equipment. The availability of draft beer was relatively uninterrupted, but damage to the bottling line temporarily halted production; bottled beer has been making its way to local stores in the past few weeks.
