With the Dallas International Film Festival in full swing and the Deep Ellum Arts Festival beginning today, you already have two reasons why you shouldn't be glued to your couch this weekend unless you're doing really well on your March Madness bracket and plan on watching the Final Four. Plus, who needs college basketball when the Texas Rangers are facing the Red Sox in opening day action? The game starts at 3:05 p.m. today, so slip out of work early and head to the Nodding Donkey (2900 Thomas Ave.) to catch the game. The Donkey's serving up $3 MGD 64 and Dos Equis and $2 hot dogs, plus special Ranger red berry shots. Make your Texas Rangers proud and take a shot every time they score a run, unless of course it's Josh Hamilton's run. More events after the jump...

Wine enthusiasts better call their designated drivers, because the good stuff's going to be flowing at two special events happening tonight. Sip & Swirl is back at Bijoux (5450 W. Lovers Lane), and this time owner and sommelier Gina Gottlich is hosting a showdown between two favorite American wine regions. Guests will sample four wines from the Napa and Sonoma regions, then decide which region will be crowned the victor of vino. Each wine will be paired with a small bites created by chef Scott Gottlich. The event is $40 a person and begins at 7 p.m.

Yes, it's April Fools Day, but we're not going to pull any tricks, like making you look like a jackass flight attendant while trying to send an email. Thanks Google. We do have a cheap treat you'll enjoy, compliments of Nana (2201 Stemmons Freeway) and their monthly Friday Night Flight series. For $20, you can sample three wines paired with dishes like crab and scallop rice pudding and sirloin "ceviche." Selections from the Napa and Sonoma regions (we're seeing a pattern here) will be featured at tonight's tasting. The event starts at 6 p.m. and reservations are recommended.

If you love your footie pajamas or sweatpants but feel ashamed to wear them in public, you'll want to be at McKinney Avenue Tavern (2822 McKinney Ave.) tomorrow night. The bar is having a pajama party, and everyone's encouraged to wear comfortable flannel or sexy silk while enjoying drink and food specials, starting at 9 p.m. Random Axis will provide music, and a pajama contest will take place at midnight with a $200 prize for the best dressed, or maybe in this case the least dressed.
