Texas-Based Snap Kitchens is another company that's trying really hard to make us healthy. Don't ask them if you look fat in those pants. You're probably not going to get the answer you want, but one that would probably arrive in the form of a cold-pressed vegetable drink.
Originally founded by UT grad Martin Berson in Austin in 2010, Snap Kitchens is an all-local, organic, chef-driven, super-duper healthy spot to purchase ready-to-go meals, snacks, juices, salads or even meatballs. They're planning five Dallas locations, which will open in early 2014 and will include a flagship commissary kitchen that helps dole out food to four smaller satellite units.
At these satellite spots, you'll be able to pick up take-away organic meals that pretty much run the gamut with offerings such as peanut butter pancakes, grass-fed beef meatballs and peppers, and an herbed quinoa "mac and cheese." There are cold-pressed juices, special elixirs all served under the careful eye of in-house nutritionists who can also provide you some guidance on their 21-day to a Leaner, Fitter You.
But I think you look great, so no worries.
Currently there are six Snap locations in the Austin area and three in Houston. On the move to Dallas, CEO Martin Berson says "Dallas is a no-brainer for Snap. We love the city, the culture and the focus on wellness. We look forward to providing a premium option for chef-driven, freshly prepared meals that highlight convenience, while speaking to a variety of dietary preferences."
