The Pearl Cup, the quaint java shop that the Observer named the best coffeehouse in Dallas last year, has revamped its menu, adding sandwiches, paninis and vegetarian wraps. The menu, which launched this week at both locations, contains only a handful of items from the old menu: breakfast panini, grilled cheese, quiche and yogurt parfait.

Those well-established veterans are joined by this class of tasty looking rookies:

Cold Sandwiches
Pimento cheese served on pumpernickel bread
Tuna salad with pickle relish and celery seed on "hippie" bread
Mesquite turkey and aged provolone on "hippie" bread
Black forest ham and swiss on pumpernicklel

Hot Sandwiches Italian Bistro - black forest ham, hard salami, aged provolone and olive tapenade The Favorite - sliced mesquite turkey, aged provolone, pesto Black Forest Panini - black forest ham, swiss and red rooster aioli

Wraps Mediterranean Wrap - hummus, sweet bell pepper and lettuce in a spinach tortilla Veggie Wrap - cream cheese, English cucumber, sweet bell pepper and lettuce in a spinach tortilla

Pearl Cupper Mattie Stafford says the new menu's signature is the Italian Bistro, which has apparently been selling like hotcakes, only hotcakes that look, smell and taste like delicious pork products.

"Everyone seems really excited about it," Stafford said. And why shouldn't they be?! Black forest ham? Salami? Provolone? Yes please.
