We told you last week that FT33 and Spoon had been nominated among the 50 best new restaurants in the country. It was a nice honor, with the potential for more accolades. Bon Appetit would eventually name the top 10 placeholders, and Dallas restaurants had the chance to grab two of them.
No dice. The final list has been published, and Dallas is not mentioned. You can still be proud of Texas, though.
The Austin-based paired restaurant Jeffrey's & Josephine House came in at no. 8, and was noted for the old-school service approach and attention to detail. The post includes a short video depicting a bow tie-clad staff ready to coddle the hell out of their customers and valet workers that look like they have a mean overhand serve, circa 1982.
The Pass & Provisions in Houston comes in at no. 6 -- another two-face restaurant that makes me wonder if all new restaurants will be required to provide multiple concepts to get national attention. California isn't he only other state to get two mentions. So there's that.
As for Dallas, there's always next year -- although so far this year, nothing has opened that would capture the attention of a national glossy.
