  • Picture Show: Brian Jonestown Massacre at the Granada

Dylan HollingsworthThe Brian Jonestown Massacre played the Granada Theater on Monday night, hurling an intensely back-lit psych rock performance at fans who made it out for the night. If you missed it yesterday, be sure and check out our Last Night review, in which Lance emphatically proclaims the show not a trainwreck. For a look at the band in action, check out Dylan Hollingsworth's show photography, in our slideshow here.

  • Picture Show: St. Vincent at the Granada Theater

Dylan HollingsworthAnnie Clark shreds on stage. Shred, Annie. Shred. See Annie shred. My review of last night's show at the Granada Thater is already up. So, y'know, go read it and marvel at my prose--I think the review reads quite pretty, if I may say so m'self.Unfortunately, my words don't hold a candle to the shots taken by Dylan Hollingsworth last night. Maybe it's something to do with that whole picture, thousand word things? Oh well. Check out the whole set in our slideshow right here.

  • Video: They Were Stars -- "Every Now And Then"

Check out the new Evan Kaufmann-directed video for Dallas power pop quintet They Were Stars. It's the first single off the band's debut record, Own Your Atoms (which features a sweet art photography shot from our own Dylan Hollingsworth on the cover). It's a nice little video to go with a pretty solid piece of power pop. Meanwhile, pertinent to nothing (maybe): Think these guys like Weezer? Just sayin'.

  • Set Your DVR: St. Vincent To Appear On Letterman Tonight

Dylan HollingsworthLast week, the Granada. This week, Ed Sullivan Theater. Speaking of media blitzes, St. Vincent's recent tear of publicity continues tonight on The Late Show with David Letterman, where she'll make--get this--her national television debut, and where shell perform after Dave spends some QT with on Shia The Beef, no doubt talking Transformers 2, a movie whose draw still baffles me. You guys saw the first one, right?

  • Download: They Were Stars -- "Every Now and Then"

Dylan HollingsworthMaybe you're like me, and maybe you've been listening to a lot of mall punk lately (by choice or not)? And maybe you remember last week when we posted that new video for They Were Stars' new single, "Every Now and Then," perhaps? Well, either way, I kinda dig the song. Can't help it, really. Maybe it's he Weezer influence? Who knows?Anyway, on that front, if you are, indeed, like me (and God help you), then you;d do well to head on over to AbsolutePunk.net--the Internet bible

  • Picture Show: The Granada's Five-Year Anniversary Party

Dylan HollingsworthSlobberbone headlined Friday's festivities. The folks at the Granada Theater must've been pleased as pie on Friday night, having sold out of tickets for its fifth anniversary celebration an all.Of course, it helps that the venue had some local favorites on the bill to help draw in the crowds: Openers Danny Balis and Macon Greyson both used the date as a way to celebrate their new releases, and to headline the ordeal, the theater was able to call in a favor to Slobberbone, wh

One of the Richard Ross pieces that will be up for auction tomorrow at The Whole Show in Deep EllumThose with blank walls and no Saturday night plans had best take note: Kettle Art down in Deep Ellum's the site of The Whole Show tomorrow, a silent auction during which ... lessee if I counted this right ... 47 artists will be selling off their works to the highest bidder. Dylan HollingsworthDanny Balis at his CD release show, which doubled as the Granada Theater's five-year anniversary party.Got an excited call last night from one Danny Balis. Mostly, Balis--he of The King Bucks and formerly of Sorta--was flabbergasted by what he was looking at on his computer, and he pass along to share some good news on a day in which he needed some.Checking in on how his phenomenal solo debut, Too Much Living, was doing on the day of and the days immediately following the d
