  • Fort Worth Gets Two More Venues, Courtesy Success Of Lola's, Spune

Fort Worth just continues to explode: Lance Yocom of Spune Productions passes along word of two new venues set to open up in Fort Worth at the end of the month this weekend and next, both of which will be booked by Spune and owned by Lola's Saloon owner Brian Forella. What are they? Well, the first is the dormant Longhorn Saloon venue, which is being re-vamped and re-opened in order to compete, according to Yocom at least, with Dallas' larger venues, like the Granada, the Lakewood and the Door.

  • Doug Burr To Tour Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas With Son Volt

Just got word from Lance Yocom at Spune Productions that Denton's own Doug Burr has been tapped to open up for Jay Farrar's Uncle Tupelo offshoot, Son Volt, on a five-day, five-city swing in February that will take Burr and the alt-country legends to Houston, Austin, Denton, Oklahoma City and Fayetteville (Arkansas). The Denton show will take place on Thursday, February 26, at Dan's Silverleaf. It'll be a slightly more modest affair than fans saw this past weekend at Burr's Sons of Hermann Hall

  • Giveaway: A Pair Of Tickets To Tonight's Hope Sandoval Show At Sons of Hermann Hall

Hope Sandoval In this week's print edition of DC9, you won't see an interview with Hope Sandoval. Rather, I think, you'll see something a little more interesting: an interview with the Mazzy Star singer's current musical and household partner Colm O'Ciosoig, better known to many as the drummer of My Bloody Valentine. Written by Observer contributor Doug Davis, the story focuses not on the shy Sandoval so much as it does on the similarly shy O'Ciosoig's work with her--something that's a far cr

Atlas Sound's Bradford Cox, who will not be coming to Denton after all. His Fun Fun Fun appearance Sunday in Austin is still on, though. Bad news for local fans of Bradford Cox's solo project Atlas Sound and the dreamy pop of U.K. electronic outfit Broadcast, as the two bands have canceled their Saturday appearance at Hailey's in Denton.
