  • Dallas, Can I Interest You in Some Fantasy Football?

My apologies. In pronouncing the death of football as ancillary entertainment in our newfound era of recession, I somehow overlooked a fledgling league of scantily clad females. Let it be known that is the first - and last - time I ever type that sentence. Turns out the Lingerie Football League is set to kick-off in Sept. 2009 with a franchise - the Dallas Desire - right here in our back yard.

  • Sasha Cohen Bringing Her Short Skirt and Long Legs to Dallas

What better way to cap our very female-friendly Thursday than with an interview with the No. 3-ranked hottest female athlete on the planet? That's right, Sasha Cohen is in the Sportatorium. I see it this way: If you selfishly keep Valentine's Day as yours, go to Purgatory Saturday night at 10 to check out the Lingerie Football League's Dallas Desire. If you graciously give Valentine's Day as hers, go to Smucker's Stars on Ice Saturday afternoon at 3 at American Airlines Center. I

  • Fit 'n Foxy 'n Footbally? Well Then, Dallas Desires You!

There's no crying in football. But apparently there is kissing. If you're a hot, young chick with a fit body - who am I kidding? - you probably don't read this testosterone-saturated blog. But you should. Especially if you also like football. Why? Because it's right here that I'll point you toward your big chance in the Lingerie Football League. The LFL's Dallas franchise - the Desire, natch - is holding an open tryout tomorrow to fill its roster with 12 lovely ladies who don't mind access

  • Dallas Desire Prospects: Lookin' Good!

Patrick Michels Because I'm home making elaborate plans for my sweetie's Valentine's dinner - or something - I had to (grudgingly) send intern Kelly Knickerbocker out to scope the Dallas Desire wannabes in Grand Prairie. Kelly, what'd I miss? Today at QuikTrip Park a group of beautiful - and surprisingly tough - young women were breathing life into the old adage "anything boys can do, girls can do better".Okay, maybe better is a stretch. But hotter? Oh yeah. To read more about the tr

  • Local Lingerie Hopefuls Bring Game, Tight Pants to Dallas Desire Tryouts

Patrick MichelsToday was tryout day for the Dallas Desire -- which, as we mentioned way back in October, is the local franchise in the new Lingerie Football League. And around 30 women turned up at Grand Prairie's Quick Stop Park hoping to make the final cut -- 12, all told. Over on Sportatorium, Intern Kelly has a report from the tryout. But if, for whatever reason, you're just interested in photos from the event, you can check out our slideshow here.

  • If It's Dallas Desire You Want, Grand Prairie's Still Got It

Patrick MichelsYou think the Seattle Mist stands a chance against this combination?Funny, we'd just been thinking we hadn't heard from our local Lingerie Football League franchisees in a while -- especially with the ABA throwing its weight around Dallas last week -- when the Dallas Desire sent an invitation out to catch the team at scrimmage Friday morning.Friday's media day -- the team's third, unless we missed a few -- also serves as a friendly reminder that the ladies of gridiron and lace wil

  • Whitt's End: 9.4.09

Whether you're at the end of your rope or merely the end of your week, welcome to Whitt's End: *93.3 FM - the station formerly known as The Zone, The Bone, Quality Rock and who knows what all else - has for the last day or so been "stunting." That is, playing nonsense in advance of flipping formats. My station - 105.3 - played college fight songs ahead of changing from Live to The Fan back in December. Today at Noon we'll find out what's in store for 93.3. Maybe a simple switch to s

  • Dallas' Best Football Team is Also its Best-Looking

Touchdown celebration or unnecessary roughness? Who gives a damn, really.Gonna spend my Friday night ogling two of my favorites: Football 'n Females. Been meaning to catch a Dallas Desire game this season, but lo and behold they only play two home games. The last one is Friday at 9 p.m. against the Los Angeles Temptation at Grand Prairie's QuickTrip Park. I don't have to tell you that when Temptation meets Desire, you can throw out the records. And throw off the clothes. The Desire wou

  • Desire Tops Temptation: They Actually Keep Score in the Lingerie Football League

Photos by Danny FulgencioHundreds (no, really) cheered as tan, sleek women in bras and panties (no, really) sprang onto the moist 50-yard-long field. Fireworks lit up the field. The local media was out in full force; one man screamed from the stands, "Stop taking pictures of my sister!"What a brutal game -- aerial tackes, Hail Mary passes and touchdown dances, split into two 17-minute halves. In the end, the Dallas Desire bested the Los Angeles Temptation by a score of 24-12 at QuikTrip Park

  • Women in Sports: Athletes or Accessories?

Watching a win? Or ogling some skin?My column in this week's dead tree version of The Sportatorium (better known as the Dallas Observer) delves into chicks in sports. Specifically, the Dallas Desire of the Lingerie Football League. Generally, why do we watch? Is it because Maria Sharapova is really good at tennis? Danica Parick a superb driver? Michelle Wie an excellent putter? Or is it because - duh - they're women. President Barack Obama played golf with a woman this week, so ma
